UK–UA STEM PRO: launch of an international programme for Ukrainian teachers and researchers

The Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports announces the launch of the UK–UA STEM PRO international professional development programme for Ukrainian teachers and young researchers.

Seventy-three applicants from universities and scientific institutions in 18 cities of Ukraine took part in the competitive selection process: Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, Kyiv, Uzhhorod, Ternopil, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Sumy, Kherson, Berdiansk, Chernivtsi, Lutsk, and Vinnytsia.

Based on the competition results, 43 participants were recommended for training. They include doctors of science, PhDs, postgraduates, and masters representing a wide range of STEM fields: medicine, IT, agricultural sciences, energy, nanotechnology, robotics, architecture, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, chemical synthesis, and others.

The competitive selection process demonstrated the high level and potential of the Ukrainian scientific community. Programme participants are focused on developing modern infrastructure at universities: creating laboratories, educational hubs, innovative platforms, and technological solutions for integrating science and business. Many projects focus on applied technologies, from 3D modelling and automation to the implementation of AI solutions in medicine and education.

Today, the first introductory lecture of the UK–UA STEM PRO programme will take place. Participants will meet the team of lecturers and organisers and receive detailed information about the training modules, the topics of the online sessions, and the programme’s further steps. Over the next 10 weeks, they will take part in intensive training blocks, practical classes, discussions with British experts, and opportunities for international cooperation.

A special opportunity for the best: based on the results of their studies and practical classes, the 10 most active and successful participants will take part in a study trip to the United Kingdom in February 2026. They will enjoy a week-long programme at the University of Warwick and partner institutions, including visits to laboratories and meetings with leading scientists, businesses, and foundations.

UK–UA STEM PRO is implemented by the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports in partnership with the University of Warwick, with the support of the UK–Ukraine Academic Diaspora Network and the UK Foreign Office.

The Fund warmly welcomes the programme participants and wishes them inspiration, new ideas, and discoveries that will help strengthen Ukrainian science, education, and the innovation ecosystem.

We would like to express our gratitude to all those who applied but were not selected this time. We invite you to participate in the Fund’s future initiatives and competitions — stay tuned for updates, as new opportunities are already in the works!
