The Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science, and Sports has updated its mission and set strategic goals for 2030.

The Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science, and Sports, together with its Council members, held a strategic session. Following the session, the Fund updated its mission, set strategic goals for 2030 and established priorities for the immediate future.

The Fund’s updated mission: ‘Empowering talented young people to strengthen Ukraine’.

During the session, participants discussed the Fund’s role in the context of current challenges and determined how to make support for talented young people more systematic, measurable and visible to society. The session was moderated by Oleksandr Novikov, founder of the OKR UA community, who served as the NACP’s head and the Ukrainian delegation to the Council of Europe’s GRECO from 2020 to 2024.

“It is very important to us that our activities respond to the challenges currently facing Ukraine. We have gathered as a team from the Fund and the Council of the Fund to align our efforts and establish the priority areas of our work,”
– said Iryna Tulyakova, Head of the Council of the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science, and Sports.

The Fund must constantly update its tools to meet the current needs of young people, education, science and sport, emphasised Olga Budnyk, Advisor – Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Fund.

“We live in a time of rapid change. It is important for us to review the tasks we have already been working on, update them and make them more relevant. If talented young Ukrainians realise their potential here, they will achieve the best results in their lives,”
– noted Olga Budnyk.

The Fund’s team, led by Director Yuriy Petrushenko, worked alongside the Fund’s Council to update the strategy.

“We want the Fund to make a real contribution to strengthening our country. We are strategising to strengthen our organisation and create opportunities for young people in Ukraine more effectively,”
– said Yuriy Petrushenko.

The updated strategic goals of the Fund of the President of Ukraine

By 2030, the Fund will work towards four strategic goals:

  • to encourage talented young people to study in Ukraine;
  • to provide them with access to the world’s best opportunities in the fields of education, science and sport;
  • to make Ukraine a magnet for talented young people to realise their potential and to strengthen the country by harnessing its human capital;
  • to strengthen Ukraine’s global brand through the achievements of talented young people.
“A strategic session is essential to understand what is needed today to ensure that talented young people work, live and generate new ideas right here in Ukraine,”
– emphasised Vadym Ovcharuk, a member of the Council of the Fund.

The Fund works with talented young people in the fields of education, science and sport and is gradually building a system of opportunities: from awards, scholarships and grant schemes to international programmes, academic partnerships, professional development and a community of young Ukrainians.

The aim of the strategic session

“This strategy session was organised to try to determine how best to organise the Fund’s work in the context of the fifth year of the war and how to ensure that this work is visible to the whole of Ukrainian society,”
– noted Taras Finikov, a member of the Council of the Fund.

The third-quarter priorities will mark the first stage in implementing the updated strategy. They are intended to translate strategic goals into specific tasks for the Fund’s programme, partnership and communication work.
