Fund of the President of Ukraine Scholarship Recipient Visits the UK: Highlights from the Fourth Ukrainian Summer School at Warwick
From 15 to 28 June 2026, the Fourth Ukrainian Summer School was held at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, attended by Sofiia Stefanyshyn, a scholarship recipient of the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science, and Sports.
The programme also brought together 20 students from the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv) and Anastasiia Kuleba, Head of Community Strategic Development at the Fund of the President of Ukraine.
The summer school’s aim is to give Ukrainian students a broad academic experience, introduce them to the range of subjects, methods, and approaches used by Warwick’s Faculty of Arts in collaboration with the Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS), and create space for interaction between Ukrainian students and Warwick’s student community.
As part of the programme, participants explored the work of English writer Jane Austen, migration to the United Kingdom, refugees, post-war reconstruction, public engagement, Catholic literature, European cultural heritage, and the memory of war, and took part in a research workshop on diaspora and refugees.
Study visits and cultural trips formed a separate part of the programme. Participants visited Coventry and Coventry Cathedral, the historic houses of Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House, London (including Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, and Trafalgar Square), and Kenilworth Castle.
The school involved a range of University of Warwick units: the Faculty of Arts; the Departments of History and of English and Comparative Literary Studies; the School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures; the Warwick Writing Programme; French Studies; the Modern Records Centre; the European history research centre; the Institute of Advanced Study; the International Office; the Department of Politics and International Studies; and the Warwick Institute of Engagement.
The Fund of the President of Ukraine works systematically to give talented young people access to quality educational, scientific, sporting, and international opportunities. Scholars’ participation in such programmes helps young Ukrainians gain new experience to support Ukraine’s development.
