“Student sports are an environment that educates leaders, unites youth and forms team spirit. We want universities to become a space of strength and new opportunities for young athletes,” – Serhiy Tymofeyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
“Grants will become the tool that will give impetus to the development of university sports. We want talented athletes to be able to receive a quality education without stopping their sports career. This is an investment in future leaders who will form a strong and active community at universities,” – Olga Budnyk, Advisor-Employer to the President of Ukraine on the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Support of Education, Science and Sports.
They discussed:
-what the grant program should be like so that support for athletes contributes to the development of student clubs and mass sports;
-what practices for developing sports infrastructure in HEIs have already proven their effectiveness;
-what data should be collected during the study so that the grant program is as effective as possible.
The goal is to create conditions where talented athletes can combine their studies and sports careers, and universities will have modern infrastructure, clubs and leagues that form team spirit and a sports community.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science and Sports are working to make student sports accessible to everyone.
