Fund of the President of Ukraine Signs a New Memorandum with a British University
Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science, and Sports has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with one of the world’s strongest sports universities — Loughborough University. The University ranks No.1 in the United Kingdom for combining sport and education and is recognised as No.1 globally in sports-related subjects according to the QS World University Rankings.
Loughborough University has one of the most advanced sports infrastructures in the United Kingdom. Its London campus is located within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park — the legacy site of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Academic and research activities are based at Here East, a modern innovation centre established in the former Olympic media complex, now home to universities, technology companies and research teams.
The Memorandum was signed on 26 February 2026 during the UK–Ukraine conference at Loughborough University. The event also brought together representatives of leading British universities: University of Warwick, University College London and Coventry University. Professor Gwen van der Velden, Professor Richard Tomlins and Danna Karaieva participated in a panel discussion highlighting successful cooperation cases between the Fund and Ukrainian universities, as well as presenting the “UK–Ukraine Research Bridge” project aimed at fostering long-term academic partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
The parties outlined priority areas of cooperation focused on supporting Ukrainian youth with significant sporting achievements, including the organisation of summer sports camps, academic programmes, and the development of competencies in sports diplomacy.
The new partnership creates additional opportunities for the international integration of Ukrainian talents and strengthens Ukraine’s position in the global sports and education landscape.
