On the occasion of the Day of the Education Worker of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy celebrated the achievements of students and teachers and congratulated educators on the upcoming holiday

The solemn ceremony of presenting state awards and prizes took place at the relocated Mariupol State University, an institution that has become a true center of indomitability, continuing to work and develop even in times of greatest challenges.
“I am very pleased to be here. I would like to thank you on behalf of all Ukrainians, Ukrainians, and our entire society for your great contribution to the statehood, independence, and life of Ukraine. Thank you for taking such an important path for Ukraine together with all citizens and carrying your knowledge to our generations,” the president emphasized.
After these words, the president spoke with schoolchildren, students, and educators, as well as solemnly presenting state awards to educators.
Among the honored teachers was Andriy Popyk, head of the Algorithm Club group, who received the award from the president.
“For 4 years in a row, I have been happy with the successes of my students, prizewinners of the International Olympiad in Informatics. Today I received an award from the state, but what warms me most is that the students themselves are also celebrating. It is this intellectual elite that will determine the future of Ukraine, despite all the challenges of the war. In 2022, I was also awarded the medal “For Labor and Victory”.
The recognition that teachers and students receive is of particular value at this time. These state awards and prizes are gratitude to teachers and students for their work and achievements.
The President of Ukraine’s prizes, which are paid by the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science and Sports, were also awarded.
• 100 thousand hryvnias will be awarded to 26 students – prizewinners of international educational Olympiads.
• 50 thousand hryvnias – to 18 teachers who prepared these students to participate in such competitions.
“Education Worker’s Day is an opportunity to emphasize once again: a teacher is one of the key figures in creating the future of the state. It is on him that the values and knowledge that the next generations of Ukrainians will carry into the world depend. The President’s Awards are a way to thank teachers for their work and support students who glorify our state in the world with their perseverance and talents. Their work and achievements are especially important today, in difficult times for Ukraine, when education is emerging as a nation-building force capable of uniting the people. And each such award is a sign of gratitude to those who work every day for our common future,” said Olga Budnyk, Plenipotentiary Advisor to the President of Ukraine on the Presidential Fund.
In conclusion, emphasizing the importance of the role of education, the President emphasized that during the war it is especially important for the state to function fully, including such an important area as education, because it is an integral component of the quality of life.
