UK–UA STEM PRO: professional development programme for STEM-teachers and young scientists

The UK–UA STEM PRO program is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the academic communities of Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The initiative is designed to provide participants with modern knowledge, practical tools and international contacts for the development of scientific research, its commercialization and the creation of partnerships with business. Participation in the program will contribute to the development of sustainable ties between universities and the business sector, the formation of joint projects and the development of the innovative economy of Ukraine.

The program was launched on the initiative of the Foundation of the President of Ukraine, in partnership with the University of Warwick and with the support of the UK–Ukraine Academic Diaspora Network and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

I. Educational part (November 2025 - January 2026)

10 online sessions for 30 participants with the participation of British professors, business representatives and the Ukrainian academic diaspora in the UK. Topics include: modern models of commercialization of science, technology transfer, building effective cooperation with business, development of spin-offs, industrial PhD programs and creation of joint laboratories. Special emphasis is on the commercialization of scientific results: how to turn research into products and technologies, create partnerships with business and develop innovations in universities.

II. Study visit to the UK (February 2026)

The 10 most active participants according to the results of the competitive selection will visit the University of Warwick and partner institutions. The visit program includes laboratories, innovation hubs, companies and scientific foundations - participants will adopt best practices in international cooperation and development of STEM innovations.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

III. Final stage (March 2026)

Participants will develop and implement practical projects in partnership with Ukrainian businesses, using the experience of British colleagues. The main outcome of participation will be the conclusion of at least one new partnership or the creation of a joint project with businesses. The results will be presented at the STEM Innovation Showcase, the final event of the program dedicated to innovation and university-business cooperation.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION:

WHO CAN APPLY:

• Teachers and researchers of Ukrainian universities in STEM fields.

• English level — B2 and above.

• Priority: age up to 40 years or degree obtained no more than 10 years ago.

PROGRAM TIMELINE:

• Application period: October 29 - November 9 (18:00 Kyiv time).

• Educational component: November 2025 - January 2026.

• Educational visit to the UK - February 2026.
